Draft of UK's withdrawal from EU...What does it contain? It has been two years and five months since the U.K. decided to withdraw from the European Union in a Brexit referendum in June 2016.
At a press conference in Brussels on Tuesday (local time), European chief negotiator for the negotiations for Brexit announced a political declaration on future relations between the two sides, along with a draft withdrawal agreement of more than 580 pages. The EU withdrawal agreement is the first legal agreement signed between the two sides since Britain joined the EEC, a predecessor of the European Union in 1973. The book contains details on the future obligations of the two sides and the transition period set for a smooth Brexit, as well as a return of the 45-year-old two-way integration and protection of rights. The following is the agreement on major issues. ◇ Agreement for withdrawal ▪ Transition (implementation) Period = UK leaves EU on March 29, 2019 but remains in EU single market by establishing transition period by end of 2020. EU regulations should also be followed during this period. During the transition period, the two sides must build new future relationships. If more time is required, the transition period may be extended once under a joint agreement before 1 July 2020. However, it did not specify the duration of the extension. 안전놀이터 추천 ▲ Island border = In relation to the issue of the Irish-North Island border, which was one of Brexit's biggest issues, both sides agreed to 'Hard Border' (avoiding separate customs and customs procedures until passing through the border'). As a result, Britain remained in the EU Customs Union until a permanent new trade agreement was replaced. In the statement, the two sides agreed to do their best to conclude a future trade agreement before the transition period ends six months. If the entire UK remains in the EU Customs Union, all goods except marine products will be covered. Both sides want to build new future relationships before the end of 2020 when the transition period ends, and hope that such safety devices will not be used in practice. When the "safety system" is in operation and Britain remains in the EU Customs Union, one party must notify the other of the reason for the shutdown. A joint committee to discuss this will be held within six months, and the 'safety system' will be terminated if both sides agree. |
